The world's nuclear fleet in 1985

In 1985, 362 nuclear reactors were operating in 34 countries, 244.4 GWe net, with 132 under construction.

Compared with 1984, the operating fleet grew by 39 reactors. 35 reactors were connected to the grid that year, 33,182 MWe, mostly in United States (8), France (5) and Russia (3). 3 units were permanently shut down, 266 MWe. the Czech Republic and North Korea connected their first nuclear reactor in 1985. The countries with the most operating capacity were United States (79,427 MWe), France (33,858 MWe) and Japan (23,613 MWe).
