The world's nuclear fleet in 2020
In 2020, 437 nuclear reactors were operating in 32 countries, 388.2 GWe net, with 56 under construction.
Compared with 2019, the operating fleet shrank by 3 reactors. 5 reactors were connected to the grid that year, 5,683 MWe, mostly in China (2), Belarus (1) and Russia (1). 6 units were permanently shut down, 5,165 MWe. Belarus and the United Arab Emirates connected their first nuclear reactor in 2020. The countries with the most operating capacity were United States (96,553 MWe), France (61,370 MWe) and China (46,754 MWe).
