The world's nuclear fleet in 2020
In 2020, 455 nuclear reactors were operating in 35 countries, 393.6 GWe net, with 54 under construction.
Compared with 2019, the operating fleet shrank by 1 reactor. 7 reactors were connected to the grid that year, 7,917 MWe, mostly in China (2), United States (2) and Belarus (1). 6 units were permanently shut down, 5,165 MWe. Belarus and the United Arab Emirates connected their first nuclear reactor in 2020. The countries with the most operating capacity were United States (98,815 MWe), France (61,418 MWe) and China (46,996 MWe).
