The world's nuclear fleet in 1965

In 1965, 59 nuclear reactors were operating in 11 countries, 5.4 GWe net, with 42 under construction.

Compared with 1964, the operating fleet grew by 12 reactors. 11 reactors were connected to the grid that year, 1,831 MWe, mostly in United Kingdom (6), France (1) and Japan (1). Puerto Rico connected its first nuclear reactor in 1965. The countries with the most operating capacity were United Kingdom (2,589 MWe), Russia (905 MWe) and United States (893 MWe).
