In 2005, 447 nuclear reactors were operating in 32 countries, 377.8 GWe net, with 26 under construction. 2 of those units are not included in the net capacity because no net figure has been published for them.
Compared with 2004, the operating fleet grew by 4 reactors. 4 reactors were connected to the grid that year, 3,652 MWe, mostly in Japan (2), India (1) and South Korea (1). 2 units were permanently shut down, 940 MWe. The countries with the most operating capacity were United States (103,782 MWe), France (63,260 MWe) and Japan (46,527 MWe).
