In 2024, 458 nuclear reactors were operating in 36 countries, 400.8 GWe net, with 55 under construction.
Compared with 2023, the operating fleet grew by 2 reactors. 7 reactors were connected to the grid that year, 8,374 MWe, mostly in China (3), France (1) and India (1). 4 units were permanently shut down, 2,891 MWe. The countries with the most operating capacity were United States (99,214 MWe), France (61,418 MWe) and China (56,012 MWe).
