In 2024, 440 nuclear reactors were operating in 33 countries, 393.9 GWe net, with 65 under construction. 2 of those units are not included in the net capacity because no net figure has been published for them.
Compared with 2023, the operating fleet grew by 3 reactors. 7 reactors were connected to the grid that year, 8,374 MWe, mostly in China (3), France (1) and India (1). 4 units were permanently shut down, 2,891 MWe. The countries with the most operating capacity were United States (96,952 MWe), France (61,370 MWe) and China (54,236 MWe).
