In 1993, 429 nuclear reactors were operating in 31 countries, 343.7 GWe net, with 51 under construction. 3 of those units are not included in the net capacity because no net figure has been published for them.

Compared with 1992, the operating fleet grew by 10 reactors. 9 reactors were connected to the grid that year, 9,110 MWe, mostly in Japan (4), Canada (1) and China (1). The countries with the most operating capacity were United States (106,833 MWe), France (57,700 MWe) and Japan (35,785 MWe).
