In 1993, 440 nuclear reactors were operating in 34 countries, 345.1 GWe net, with 52 under construction.

Compared with 1992, the operating fleet grew by 10 reactors. 9 reactors were connected to the grid that year, 9,068 MWe, mostly in Japan (4), Canada (1) and China (1). The countries with the most operating capacity were United States (106,861 MWe), France (57,748 MWe) and Japan (35,785 MWe).
