Compared with 2002, the operating fleet shrank by 3 reactors. 2 reactors were connected to the grid that year, 1,666 MWe: Qinshan 3-2 (China) and Hanul 5 (South Korea). 6 units were permanently shut down, 988 MWe. The countries with the most operating capacity were United States (103,782 MWe), France (63,260 MWe) and Japan (44,135 MWe).
