Compared with 1961, the operating fleet grew by 10 reactors. 11 reactors were connected to the grid that year, 907 MWe, mostly in United Kingdom (5), United States (3) and Belgium (1). Belgium, Canada and Germany connected their first nuclear reactor in 1962. The countries with the most operating capacity were United Kingdom (955 MWe), United States (717 MWe) and Russia (272 MWe).
