Terms of use
The conditions for accessing Reactor Atlas, using our work and sharing what you discover.
An independent information service.
Share with attribution. Respect source rights.
Verify critical decisions with the original authority.
1. Operator and agreement
Reactor Atlas is operated by FC Technology, LLC, a limited liability company organized under the laws of Delaware, United States (the Company, we, us). These terms govern access to our website, maps, research content, newsletters and alerts (the Service).
By accepting these terms where requested, or using the Service after being given reasonable notice of them, you agree to these terms to the extent permitted by applicable law. If you act for an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind it. If you do not agree, discontinue use. Account holders must be at least 18 or the age of legal majority where they live.
2. Information and its intended use
Reactor Atlas detects and consolidates official publications, with source attribution, a date and a link to the original.
The Service organizes information about nuclear facilities, technologies, materials, organizations and published events. It is an independent analytical and educational resource. It is not an official register, a regulator, an operator or an emergency notification service.
Content, classifications, maps, translations and summaries are not engineering, nuclear safety, medical, legal, investment or other professional advice. They are not suitable for controlling facilities, safety systems, radiation protection, emergency response, clinical decisions or regulatory compliance. Do not rely on the Service as the sole basis for a consequential decision. Obtain qualified advice and consult the responsible authority and original source.
Publication dates, effective dates, units, definitions and geographic boundaries may differ between sources. A displayed status or absence of an alert does not establish that a facility is operating, safe or free of incidents. Projections and announced plans are not guarantees of future events.
3. Access, accounts and communications
Provide accurate information and use only accounts and email addresses that you are authorized to control. Protect access links and credentials, and notify us if you suspect unauthorized use. You are responsible for activity you authorize; this does not remove our own legal obligations.
The public atlas and Free account remain available without a card. Existing free subscriber benefits are preserved. Optional paid plans require a separate, explicit confirmation in Stripe Checkout, which displays the price, billing period and renewal terms before payment. Requesting a newsletter, signing in or saving a view does not authorize a charge. Manage renewal or cancellation through the billing portal; mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.
The features and limits of each plan, including delivery frequency, are described on the plans page. Organization plans may be governed by a separately signed agreement, which prevails over these terms for the matters it covers.
Newsletters and alerts depend on source publication, processing and email delivery. Delivery, timing and uninterrupted availability are not guaranteed. You can unsubscribe using the link in the message or contact us. Service and security communications, when necessary, are separate from optional marketing.
4. Our work and third-party rights
The Company and its licensors retain rights in the Service’s original software, design, written analysis, selection and arrangement, and proprietary methods, to the extent protected by law. Access does not transfer ownership, confer rights to our trademarks or grant access to non-public methods.
Reactor Atlas does not redistribute source material. It monitors official publications, identifies the reported fact, links it to the relevant facility or unit, classifies it and records its date. A subscription provides that work of detection, linking and consolidation, delivered according to the criteria the subscriber chooses. Original material remains on the source’s website under that source’s terms, and is always linked.
Public facts are not claimed as our exclusive property. Third-party data, documents, images, maps and other materials remain subject to their own rights and licences. Open licences and statutory exceptions remain effective for the material they cover. These terms do not restrict rights independently granted by those licences, including applicable attribution and share-alike rights.
Citing a source or displaying its name does not imply affiliation, sponsorship, approval or endorsement by that source. Map boundaries and designations do not express a position on legal status or sovereignty.
5. Permitted sharing and acceptable use
You may access the Service for lawful personal or professional use. As a subscriber, you may share what you receive internally within your organization. You may quote limited excerpts of our original content and reproduce screenshots in reports, articles, presentations, teaching and social posts, provided you identify Reactor Atlas, link to the relevant page, preserve source credits and do not misrepresent context, date or meaning. This permission does not sublicense third-party material.
Except with written permission or as independently allowed by law or an applicable open licence, you must not:
- Systematically extract, reproduce or redistribute our protected compilation or content, or offer a substitute database or resale product based on it.
- Use automated access that circumvents access controls, rate limits or technical restrictions; disrupt the Service or attempt unauthorized access.
- Reverse engineer protected software or obtain non-public processes where prohibited by law; remove rights notices or falsely claim endorsement.
- Use our protected content for bulk model training or dataset assembly, or impersonate another person or submit unlawful, confidential or infringing material.
6. Feedback and corrections
Send only information you are entitled to provide. Do not submit restricted nuclear information, trade secrets, sensitive personal information or material subject to duties of confidentiality. A contact form is not a secure channel for such information.
You retain your rights in your submissions. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to assess, adapt and use feedback and factual corrections to operate and improve the Service. This licence does not authorize unrelated publication of your personal information, which is governed by our privacy policy. We are not obliged to publish a submission or credit its author.
7. Availability and warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant completeness, accuracy, currency, uninterrupted operation or delivery of any particular event.
Sources may change, retract content or become unavailable. We may correct content, change features, or suspend access for security, misuse, legal requirements or maintenance. Where reasonably practicable, we will give notice of material service discontinuation. Mandatory legal rights and any express obligations in a separate signed agreement remain unaffected.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Company and its officers, employees and contractors are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, lost profit, lost business opportunities or loss of data arising from use of or inability to use the Service, even if advised of the possibility.
Subject to the exceptions below, our aggregate liability arising out of the Service or these terms is limited to the greater of USD 100 and the amount you paid the Company for the affected Service in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. This applies across legal theories to the extent permitted by law.
Nothing excludes or limits liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability, consumer remedy or data protection right that applicable law does not allow us to exclude or limit. If a limitation is unenforceable, it applies only to the extent lawful.
9. Responsibility for unlawful business use
If you use the Service on behalf of a business, and to the extent permitted by law, that business will indemnify FC Technology, LLC, a limited liability company organized under the laws of Delaware, for third-party claims and reasonable defence costs directly resulting from its unlawful use, unauthorized redistribution or infringement through submitted material. This does not cover loss caused by our own breach, negligence or misconduct.
We will promptly notify you of a claim, allow reasonable participation in its defence and not agree to a settlement imposing an admission or non-monetary obligation on you without your consent. This section does not impose an indemnity on a person acting as a consumer.
10. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by Delaware law, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. Subject to mandatory law, courts with jurisdiction in Delaware will hear disputes. If you are a consumer, mandatory protections and any right to bring proceedings in your home jurisdiction remain unaffected. This clause does not prevent a complaint to a competent regulator.
Please contact us to discuss a dispute. Informal discussion is voluntary and does not suspend or shorten any legal filing period. These terms do not impose mandatory arbitration.
11. Changes and general provisions
We will identify revisions with an updated date. Material changes will be communicated through a prominent notice or the contact details available to us before they take effect where required by law. Changes do not apply retroactively; renewed acceptance will be requested when legally required.
If a provision is invalid, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent lawful. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. A separately signed agreement prevails for its specific subject matter. The English version is the reference text; this does not displace mandatory language requirements or rights arising from a translation provided to you.
