NIRR-1
NIRR-1, a research reactor (tank) in Zaria, Nigeria, with 34 kW of thermal power, operated by Centre for Energy Research and Training (CERT). Operating, first critical in 2004.
It is the only research reactor operating in Nigeria today. It was the first research reactor in Nigeria to go critical and is still operating 22 years later. It is one of 36 tank-type reactors operating worldwide, spread across 23 countries. Its declared uses include isotope production, teaching, training and activation analysis.
