Tehran Research Reactor (TRR)
Tehran Research Reactor (TRR), a research reactor (pool) in Tehran, Iran, with 5 MW of thermal power, operated by Nuclear Science and Technology Research Institute (NSTRI). Operating, first critical in 1967.
It is the most powerful research reactor in Iran, of the 4 currently operating. It was the first research reactor in Iran to go critical and is still operating 59 years later. It is one of 48 pool-type reactors operating worldwide, spread across 28 countries. Its declared uses include isotope production, neutron radiography, transmutation and gemstone irradiation.
