REACTOR JULES HOROWITZ, a research reactor (tank) in Saint-Paul-les-Durance, France, with 100 MW of thermal power, operated by CEA. Under construction, first critical in 2007.

Once in operation it will be the most powerful research reactor in France, ahead of the 2 operating today. It went critical 59 years after the first research reactor in France, ZOE (EL-1) (1948). 36 tank-type reactors remain in operation today across 23 countries. Its declared uses include isotope production, transmutation and materials testing.
