ES-SALAM
ES-SALAM, a research reactor (heavy water) in Djelfa, Algeria, with 15 MW of thermal power, operated by Centre de Recherche Nucléaire de Birine (CRNB). Operating, first critical in 1992.
It is the most powerful research reactor in Algeria, of the 3 currently operating. It went critical 3 years after the first research reactor in Algeria, NUR (1989). It is one of 10 heavy-water research reactors operating worldwide, spread across 7 countries. Its declared uses include isotope production, neutron scattering, neutron radiography and teaching.
