RECH-1
RECH-1, a research reactor (pool) in Santiago, Chile, with 5 MW of thermal power, operated by La Reina Nuclear Centre-CCHEN. Operating, first critical in 1974.
It is the most powerful research reactor in Chile, of the 2 currently operating. It was the first research reactor in Chile to go critical and is still operating 52 years later. It is one of 48 pool-type reactors operating worldwide, spread across 28 countries. Its declared uses include isotope production, neutron scattering, neutron radiography and activation analysis.
