TRICO II
TRICO II, a research reactor (tRIGA) in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, with 1 MW of thermal power, operated by Commissariat General A L'energie Atomique (CGEA). Temporary shutdown, first critical in 1972.
It is the only research reactor operating in the Democratic Republic of the Congo today; the country has shut down one other. It went critical 13 years after the first research reactor in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, TRICO I (1959). It is one of 36 TRIGA reactors operating worldwide, spread across 17 countries. It is one of 65 research reactors in 20 countries that General Atomics designed or built.
